Alexander Harold Thiele (1920-1981) was an Edmonton lawyer who contributed years of service to the German-Canadian community. Thiele was born in Germany and moved to Edmonton in 1953 to attend the University of Alberta. He was active in cultural and charity organizations, as well as numerous clubs and associations. In 1977 he was the recipient of an achievement award from the minister of culture on behalf of the government of Alberta. The Alexander Thiele Park is in the Capilano neighbourhood and has an area of 1.46 ha.
