Rev. Joseph William Bainbridge served as a Methodist, then United Church minister for 50 years. Born in England, Bainbridge came to Canada in 1911. During WWI he served with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and the Royal Air Force and was awarded the Military Medal. Bainbridge was a graduate of Alberta College and the University of Alberta. He was ordained in 1921, and served at Edmonton churches until 1966 when he and his family moved to Calgary. Bainbridge died in 1976 at the age of 87.
