This road is named for the neighbourhood of Brander Gardens in the Riverbend subdivision. In 1973 the cul-de-sac abutting this road was designated Brander Drive because local residents complained that the previous designation of 62 Avenue was too difficult to locate. The Names Advisory Committee approved the road name clarification on October 10, 1973. See Brander Gardens.
